UK rock group, Stereophonics, apparently took their name from the manufacturer of former drummer Stuart Cable’s father’s record player. It’s pretty apt for a band that have churned our stereo friendly hits since their formation back in 1992 — as their recent Best of release, Decade in the Sun, proves.
Depeche Mode / Personal Jesus
I also like the version that Johnny Cash did, but this time I am going to choose the original. Great mix between rock and electronica.
The Beatles / I Want You (She’s So Heavy)
The Beatles are a must in anyone’s playlist. I grew up with The Beatles because of my parents and Abbey Road is one of my favourite albums. This song was well ahead of its time.
Soundgarden / Black Hole Sun
I wish I could have written this song! Ha-ha. Well, I think a lot of people feel the same as it’s such a great song! You can’t say much more than that. It just speaks for itself.
Eagles Of Death Metal / I Only Want You
Fantastic band and they write such great tunes. It makes you move your ass wherever you are.
Camille / Pour Que L’Amour Me
She’s an amazing singer and performer — one of the best out there. This track just takes your mind somewhere else. It has such simple instrumentation, but the songs are so well-written that you don’t really need anything else.
Astrud Gilberto / Manhã De Carnaval
This is the perfect track for starting any day. What a great voice!
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club / Six Barrel Shotgun
This song has a great energy. It makes you live faster! And it’s perfect for a long drive.
The Cure / A Forest
The Cure were one of my favorite bands when I was growing up. The bass line that drives the whole mood is so simple, yet so genius.
