DJ Shamsu, whose name is derived from the Arabic word for Sun, creates ‘Dance Party Mash Up Mayhem’ with influences as far reaching as The Sahara and as close as 42nd Street. He is quoted as saying: ‘I don’t think there’s room for pretentiousness in music, I just want to dance. If the music that makes me dance, makes other people dance, then maybe we can dance together’. So, dammit, let’s just dance, dance, dance.
Thunderheist / Jerk It
When I first heard the beat to this song, I was taken aback. ‘Who are these people?’, I thought. Why don’t I have every album they’ve ever made? ‘Who cares’, I thought again. Shut up and dance.
The Fitness / Chauffeur
If love at first sight is for lovers, love at first listen is for music lovers. I am in love with this track, and sometimes I put it on repeat for two full days. Why not!
Battles / Atlas
Truly a love hate story. You might be asking, what’s there to hate? NOTHING. Besides, this is my ring-tone, and Sallie Mae, well I owe her 200,000 or one soul. She’s collecting. She’s collecting four times a day. Thanks for ruining a great song and a great many lives, Sallie!
Death From Above 1979 / Blood on Our Hands (as remixed by Justice)
Damn, that’s good music.
Busta Flex / Sex, Violence, Rap, et Flooze
This talented rapper brings it with this sick track about my four favorite hobbies.
Andrew Lloyd Webber / Masquerade
Don’t get me wrong, Phantom on stage sucks. But the music is sweet, operatic, grandiose, and often full of sexy beats. This is an example of just how good Broadway music can often be.
Paul Van Dyke (PVD) with Ashley Tomberlin vocals / New York City
This song pretty miraculously captures a night of excess in the dark and often unwelcoming streets of New York City. I love songs that describe my life, and this one is dead on. Great beats, too.
The Hood Internet / Lil Wayne (feat. Static Major) vs The Bloody Beetroots
Ok, The Hood Internet entered my life about one and half years ago, and they have consistently provided the soundtrack to my life since. This is just one of hundreds of examples of songs I cannot stop playing. This happens to be one of the BIG CLUB mixes they drop once in a while. What a joy, and what talent.
