With a powerful voice and lingering hooks to match, LA-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Max Morgan has just unleashed his “grand pop” debut, Interrupting The Silence. Propelled by Marc Tanner’s (Aerosmith, Madonna) wall-of-sound production, Interrupting The Silence has been drawing musical comparisons to The Fray, Oasis and Coldplay.
MGMT / Time to Pretend
The fundamental story of rock stardom. Quality. I love the simplicity of the lyrics, and the models are okay too.
Radiohead / The Bends
My summer 2008 album and the title track led the pack. Although an unlikely summer song, it’s making its way back into my traffic jam playlist. Definitely summer 2009 material.
The Killers / Spaceman
This is a damn catchy tune. I like good songs and this one does it for me. The lasses like this one too. Bonus.
Coldplay / Glass of Water
One of the tracks that didn’t make the cut for their new record, it’s on a new E.P. instead. I like to run to this tune. Solid chorus. Makes me run fast.
Charles and Eddie / Would I Lie To You?
Cheesy pop song that hit it big in England when I was around six years old. I heard it the other day: definite sentimental value. No American knows this song. And it’s probably better that way.
U2 / Moment of Surrender
‘Vision over visibility’ is a great lyric and rings rather true for all dreamers. Nice one, Bono!
Lily Allen / Oh My God
Great cover version of the Kaiser Chiefs stomper. It reminds me of my trips to Coachella. It somehow gets played each time. It’s a great summer song.
Felt / Woman Tonight
Didn’t see that coming, did you? Great story. They made a movie in my head with their words. I want to meet this girl he’s banging on about.
