FLAWZ is the debut release from buzzed-about LA singer-songwriter, Caitlin Crosby. The 25-year-old has a raspy vocal style and has penned an album of thought-provoking guitar-driven songs, including her first single, the sweet Still Have My Heart.
Switchfoot / Dare You To Move
This song really challenges you in so many ways. It could have different meaning, but I love how moving and powerful it is. You can’t help but sing along at the top of your lungs to this one while driving. It challenges you to be strong in whatever issue you’re dealing with.
Brooke Fraser / Albertine
After she went to Rwanda, Brooke met a child named Albertine who asked if she would remember her and tell the people in the States that she existed. Brooke was so taken by this child that she wrote a kick-ass song about having a responsibility to help and serve the less fortunate.
Sheryl Crow / Everyday is a Winding Road
Another great driving song. It makes you feel on a great life quest. I love how she’s using this song to encourage her listeners to keep on truckin’ through this windy, winding life.
Nikka Costa / Like A Feather
This one is so creative, different and funky. Nikka’s voice is so unique with an insanely amazing range. I love all the horns mixed with the handclaps.
Robin Thicke / Shooter
This is one song I never get sick of. It’s so creative and cool in every way. I even feel cool when I listen to it. Haha. You hear so many contrasting musical influences in there.
Lifehouse / Everything
I’ve probably cried more to this song than any other. It’s from a spiritual point of view, so it helps facilitate feeling all these intense emotions. Its pretty mellow at the beginning, but from the bridge onwards it gets so full and powerful. That’s the tearjerker part! This song puts my life into perspective every time I hear it.
India Arie / Video
I love how she distinguished herself and set herself apart from all the music video vixens. She made many clever comments about her opinions without coming across judgmental. It’s very fresh and inspiring, and makes you feel free to be yourself.
Switchfoot / Meant to Live
We were meant to live for so much more, have we lost ourselves? I love how this, again, puts life into perspective as far as getting our priorities straight and living for what really matters. Whatever that means to you.
