Simply put, I love the lyrics of this song. She mixes dark melancholy undertones with sugar sweet melodies and the outcome is this brilliant track.
Umphrey’s Mcgee / Mantis
This song is a great example of a band pushing sonic boundaries and using technology to enhance their music.
Isley Brothers / Spill the Wine
Ernie Isley is a huge influence on the way I play guitar. His tone is so psychedelic and provocative. This is one of the best cover songs out there. Genius.
The Zutons / Valerie
This English indie rock band laid it down with Valerie. This song definitely is getting the most plays on my iPod. It’s one of my favorite songs. British blues-rocks, too!
Robert Randolph / Press On
This is such an incredible song, it inspires me in every way. Wonderful.
Ray Charles / Let the Good Times Roll
This song has the best ending ever. Quincy Jones is the man. The track is able to capture Ray Charles at a peak of musical and emotional energy.
Michael Jackson / PYT
My favorite Michael Jackson song. Again, Quincy Jones is the man. If this track wasn’t from a monster album like Thriller it would have received a lot more love from the masses.
Jay Z / 99 Problems
These lyrics kick my ass! I love the symbolic, artistic self-destruction portrayed in the video. Rick Rubin is also the man. This track uses so many elements from other songs and the result is mind-blowing.
