I have to say that there are a few choices that surprised me. Vampire Weekend for example, though I thought their first record excellent too (and indeed their performances when I've seen them). I was around when Starman first was released and that particular time is special as Bowie released an inspiration inside in terms of what music could do in terms of moving you, and your viewpoint for the better. Much in the way that Polly's album did when I first heard it. I am glad that there is Joy Division are there. Again I was around when they were first born and had the privilege to see them play. Again, it was one of those life changing moments you have. Of course any list here is subjective and that is the joy of music is it not?Stuart

I saw Polly live in Leeds a month or so back now. So I'm just going to assume it's to the artist. Polly. Such an interesting taste in music (though a pity that this site doesn't have the ability to play Mylo or Flaming Lips, so I may never know what you are on about), certainly gives an insight in to the influences behind your music. Bowie great, Radiohead not so much. Might choose to get in to Vampire weekend. May I sujest (as you are in to Joy Division) that you check out a band with echoes of Joy Division called the Woe Betides. They have a page on myspace and and EP on itunes.
