eulogies band

The project of singer-songwriter Peter Walker, LA quartet Eulogies mix mellow pop songs with alt-country touches, as reflected on their full-length debut album, Here Anonymous.

My Morning Jacket / It Beats 4U
This album – Z – and song in particular was a big influence for some of our rhythmic approaches on Here Anonymous. I’ve loved this band for a long time, and respect how they’ve grown over the years.

The Dears / Demons
I have thoroughly worn out their latest release Missiles. This song is haunting and cinematic. A great driving song.

Band Of Horses / The Funeral
We did a West Coast mini-tour with them when this album came out, and were listening to this in the van. It’s one of those songs that, wherever you are, when you first hear it, you’ll remember that place.

Beach Boys / Don’t Worry Baby
This was Brian Wilson’s tribute to Phil Spector’s Be My Baby. I love hearing the influences in people’s music and am often surprised at where they come from. Phil’s influences reach far and wide, although he was a maniac.

Pavement / Grave Architecture
This band always hits me, and hits me in a place unique to Malkmus and his mad simple melodic busted tunes.

The Curse Of Company / Any Day
This is a side project of Dave Rennick’s from Dappled Cities. This song sounds like Mazzy Star on peyote, then turns into a twisted duet.

The Clash / The Guns of Brixton
Their records have such a great mix of ‘we don’t care’ and ‘we are a bad-ass band’. This is a great driving song.

Silversun Pickups / Panic Switch
I think a lot of people are listening to this right now – or will be soon – but this is more of a good thing from Silversun Pickups and their fuzzed out formulas.
