Formed in New York City by Australian brothers Isaac and Thorry Koren, The Kin’s sound is rooted in 90s Brit-pop. The brothers released their debut album, Tracing, in 2004, followed by Red and Black in 2005, Live at the Pussy Cat in 2006, and Rise and Fall in 2007.
Nirvana / Lounge Act
This song caps off one of my favourite pop albums of all time. The melody drives, builds and repeats until it explodes.
Donny Hathaway and Roberta Flack / For All We Know
This song kills me softly on each note.
Britney Spears / If You Seek Amy
It’s as addictive as diet coke and Advil. They put something in the vocal that makes you want to take your clothes off!
The Swell Season / Falling Slowly
This song is an emotional epic and a timeless piece.
Imogen Heap / Hide and Seek
This song was found by NASA as a transmission from Mars. It improves intelligence and takes away symptoms of human-ness.
John Lennon / Beautiful Boy
Jack Douglas captured John’s sadness so well in this track. I’m not sure why it’s so intoxicating.
Love / Alone Again Or
This is the number one underrated band of all time. They set a tone for the 60s that was never to be met again and were a huge influence on Hendrix and The Doors.
Jeff Buckley / Vancouver
This song is one of his best melodies and was recorded on a little four track just before he died.
