Rising Welsh rockers Attack! Attack! will release ‘Honesty’ as a download single on Monday 18th May. The single is the third to be lifted from their self-titled debut album, released last October. Already a live favourite with the band’s an base, punchy rock affair Honesty is bursting with hooks. The band, who recently returned from Texas’ SXSW Festival, have also announced the inclusion of previous single, You and Me, on the forthcoming fifth installment of the Guitar Hero video game, as well as an episode of hit US show 90210.
Rage Against the Machine / People of the Sun
The first Rage song I ever heard and it’s still is my favorite. I love the way it switches from the aggressive choruses to the hip hop groove in the verse, and the way Zach de la Rocha’s vocals work off the rhythm section. Plus the bass sounds MASSIVE!
The Used / Box of Sharp Objects
This song just reminds me of good times at my first year in Uni. We would go around to my mate Steve’s flat, drink snakebites, and blast music. The Used’s first album had just come out and this track we loved and completely rinsed.
Metallica / My Friend of Misery
What can I say? It starts with one of the coolest bass riffs in metal, and then it builds up to this almost cock rock chorus. I love the dynamics of the song. The lyrics and the chorus have this amazing groove that is just really satisfying to listen to, over and over again.
Suicidal Tendencies / You Can’t Bring Me Down
Big, fast, punk metal. I love it. The song starts off almost like an 80s cop show theme, with this awesome guitar solo, before slamming into the riff. The song just gives me a buzz when I hear it. I love Mike Muirs lyrics. It’s definitely a good song to listen to when you’re pissed off.
Error: Operator / Taking Back Sunday
This song is just everything you could ever want in a rock song. Slamming verses, an anthemic chorus, and one of the coolest middle eights ever.
Lit / My Own Worst Enemy
This is the first song that usually gets put on in the van by me when we’ve had a bit to drink after a show. This song just goes from hook to hook, from the riff, to the verse melody, to the sing-a-long chorus. It’s the best ‘sing along when you’re drunk’ song ever. I feel sorry for whoever is driving the van, though!
Foo Fighters / Let it Die
I’m not the biggest fan of the Foo Fighters. In fact, I would say they’re a little bit overrated but this song is awesome. I have no idea what Dave Grohl is singing about. Some think it’s about Kurt Cobain, but whatever. The lyrics are awesome and the dynamics and eeriness of the song are what drew me to it. The end, when he’s just screaming, is stomping.
Cream / Badge
I grew up listening to bands like Cream, Bob Dylan, and the Rolling Stones because my dad would always have it playing in the house or in the car. This song is so chilled out, then it hits the middle eight guitar riff, which kills every time I hear it, and in my head I’m suddenly on Santa Monica Pier in 1969 busting out the riff. Seriously though, it’s actually the first song I ever really heard bass and understood what a bass does, which is probably why my baselines are quite busy. Jack Bruce was definitely a big influence on me early on. So yeah, blame him!
