dappled cities

Australian band Dappled Cities have a new album about to drop, Wall Of Zounds, and a national tour underway which will see will play live favourites from the AMP nominated Granddance (2006) album and indie cult-classic A Smile (2004).

Mastodon / Oblivion
I really like the new Mastodon record, Crack the Skye. This song is a real shout-out to where they are heading. It is pretty metal but also — disturbingly — 70s prog. Totally progarific.

Bluejuice / Broken Leg
Jake Stone is probably one of my favourite people in the world. I think Bluejuice play great pop songs and here is another example of that.

Antony and the Johnsons / Hope There’s Someone
I love this song. I always have. It is simple and beautiful. Like a sunset.

Michael Jackson / Heal the World
The great man’s message to everyone. RIP MJ!

The Dillinger Escape Plan / Clip The Apex … Accept Instruction
One of the best songs off their amazing Calculating Infinity record. Seriously, listen to it. It’s mind blowing.

Supertramp / The Logical Song
This songs is badass. Especially that bit where they come back into the chorus and there is clapping and they say ‘what would you say if they were calling you a radical, a liberal, ohhhh fanatical, criminal!’ So, so, so, so awesome.

Graham Nash / Military Madness
His anti-war message of 1971 that still rings horribly true today. Such a great song. Also, that record (Songs for Beginners) is one of the finest ever made. This is the Woods cover of the song.

Pavement / Range Life
The best Pavement song ever. I could listen to it over and over and over. And often I do!
