Felix da Housecat’s 2001 album, Kittenz and thee Glitz, turned the dance music world on its side as his collaborations with the now infamous Miss Kittin on Silver Screen and Madame Hollywood and Melistar on Harlot and What Does it Feel Like spawned a synth club revival. Along the way, Felix gained mainstream press acceptance and was heralded by Entertainment Weekly, Rolling Stone and Spin as one of the most creative artists in music today.

B-52s / Love Shack
This song just makes you feel happy. I was always a fan of Rock Lobster, but something about this song helped cross the B-52s over. It was one of those songs you hated at first, then loved. You know, you just couldn’t stop wanting to hear it.

Naked Eyes / Promises Promises
That was my cut man! It is a great track. All the brothers love Naked Eyes.

Aimee Mann / One
I like this one because it makes you feel good. My taste ain’t corny. The first time I heard this song was in the film Magnolia.

Billy Idol / Eyes Without A Face
Me and my bro we were the only people that had cable TV where we lived growing up, so when we got MTV, this was on our jams. That beat was just insanity! Billy idol showed us his sensitive side with this song. It was cool to hear that side of him.

The System / Don’t Disturb This Groove
That was one of my jams in the 80s. For the longest time, I thought the song started with ‘Merry Christmas, are you listening?’ But it was, ‘Pay attention, are you listening?’, and I was all into the song even though I thought the lyrics didn’t make sense. Oh man, the 80s were filled with great tracks like this one with its silly lyrics.

Derek and the Dominos / Layla
I love that scene in Goodfellas when they pop everyone off, and I love songs that make me visually think of movies and emotions around the scene that I felt.

Joe Jackson / Steppin’ Out
King of guilty pleasure song! This is for a late night when you’re at a karaoke bar wasted and it’s the closing song anthem. You are all drunk with your friend, hugging and singing this song, but next morning you look at your friend’s eyes and you just hide your face in shame.

Frankie Valli / Grease
I loved Grease as a kid. You can’t help but love that beautiful cheese. It is the most beautiful cheese on the highest grade of cheese. I loved musical movies and when the song Grease came on with the cartoon in the beginning, it’s another powerful visual moment for me.
