Legendary grunge rock band Alice In Chains are gearing up for the release of their first new studio album in more than ten years. The band and producer Nick Raskulinecz (Rush, Foo Fighters) began recording last October at Studio 606 in Northridge, CA and recently finished mixing at Henson Studios in Hollywood. The highly anticipated album is scheduled for release this September.
Iron Maiden / Number Of The Beast
Junior high. Gravel pit keggers. Tri-axle speakers. Skipping school and losing my virginity the morning before the show. I was 17. Thanks fellas.
Fleetwood Mac / Rumours
Unbelievable vibe. Songwriting. The sound of a band tearing itself apart. Sad and beautiful.
AC/DC / Back In Black
Any AC/DC album could be in my Playlist. This one was such a potent answer to the loss of Bon Scott. To make that sort of comeback album through so much turmoil and continue on, I don’t think it’s ever been done with such grace and power.
Pink Floyd / The Wall
I was really aware of a personal pain being communicated through this record. It made me really feel.
Van Halen / Van Halen
I bought this and Van Halen II through the Columbia Records Tape Club offer of eight albums for one penny, because everyone at school had the VH logo on their Pee Chees. I’ll never forget putting on the headphones while my dad was watching Hee Haw. I had never heard anything like it. Nor have I since! Amazing.
Led Zeppelin / IV
Page, Plant, Bonham, Jones. Are you fucking kidding me? The thing about Zeppelin that always stands out is the ability of the music to take you on a visual journey, especially with a handful of mushrooms.
Elton John / Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
Captain Fatastic & The Brown Dirt Cowboy, Caribou, Madman Across The Water, I could go on and on. My musical journey literally starts with Elton John. The lyrics of Bernie Taupin. World class musicians. Showmanship. Feeling. Execution. He has it all. Thank you, Elton.
