Alberta Cross are amazing. They’re from Brooklyn (via London and Sweden), and they’ve just released their new album Broken Side Of Time.

David Bowie / Five Years
This is a perfect introduction to an amazing album. I love the way it builds. One of my favorite tracks ever!

Sonic Youth / Teenage Riot
I grew up listening to Sonic Youth. This is one of their more famous tunes. But it just shows how grand they are.

Depeche Mode / Walking In My Shoes
My brother brainwashed me into Depeche Mode when I was a kid. I listened to this album (Songs of Faith and Devotion) loads growing up and also when I was writing songs for Broken Side Of Time.

Will Oldham / New Gypsy
Will Oldham is a fantastic songwriter. This song reminds me of being on a ghost pirate ship or something.

Neil Young / Love In Mind
We played a show with him in Hyde Park, London, a couple of months ago. I got to meet him backstage, which was special. He was really awesome and his show that night was pretty much the best show ever. He is the King! The song is from his Live at Massey Hall album. I can’t believe it wasn’t released on a studio record. It just shows how many great tunes the man has written.

The Cure / Want
I saw The Cure at the Hultsfred Festival in Sweden when I was 14. I remember this track really sticking out that night. Epic song and band.

Roberta Flack / Compared To What
Terry met and saw her perform at the BB Kings in New York City last year. She’s one of the best soul singers for sure. Ron Carters’ bass playing is great on this track.

The Black Keys / Lies
We’ve done some festivals with The Black Keys in the US. They’re grand dudes. Dan is out doing solo stuff now. And his backing band is the Hacienda from San Antonio, Austin, Texas. Fucking awesome band and friends of ours. Check em out!

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds / The Good Son
One of my favorite tunes on one of my favorite albums written by one of my favorite artists.

The Black Angels / Drone (In G sharp major)
These guys are from Austin. The first time I saw them was at the Somerset House in London. They were supporting The Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. I just remember them being class. We hanged a bit with them down in Texas when we were recording our album.
