DePedro, known for his work as Calexico’s guitarist, was recently featured as National Geographic’s first record label release, with his album The Sun People.

The Beatles / A Day In The Life
A beautiful way of using an entire classical orchestra in a pop song.

Lamine Konte / Yarabi
I woke up every morning with the sound of this song when I was a kid. Magical and atmospheric music, I love that!

Velvet Underground / What Goes On
This is my son’s favorite song, and it has a kind of light and funny verse. It seems new everytime I hear it.

Santo and Johnny / Sleepwalk
Everything about the 50s is what I love in this song.

The Pretty Things / The Good Mr Square
I heard Parachute 1000 times, and this song is one of my favorites on the album, mostly because of the vocals.

Lole Y Manuel / Nuevo Dia
This couple from the 70s era of flamenco rock in Spanish scene is amazing. She has a fantastic way of singing, and the colours that they use are a perfect bridge to transport yourself to another era.

Blind Willie Johnson / Dark Was The Night
I started to play guitar because of this song, just trying to copy the magic that it has inside. In many ways, I learned a lot from this song.

John Coltrane / Acknowledgment
The air. With this song you can hear and feel the air. It’s great and has one of the most famous riff’s ever.
