Efterklang make music for the inspired. But don’t feel left out, for Efterklang inspire all. Otherworldly pop songs, both magnificently ambitious and engagingly intimate. Breathtaking panoramas of sound with few clear antecedents. This is music with no boundaries. Their most significant performance to date took place at the brand new Koncerthuset in Copenhagen in September 2008. Together with The Danish National Chamber Orchestra they performed the newly orchestrated Parades from start to finish. This special show was a breathtaking, majestic affair and was recorded for posterity in sound and pictures. The recordings was released in October 2009 as Performing Parades. Efterklang have already begun work on their third full-length album, with a release expected in the spring of 2010.
Heather Broderick / Cottonwood Bay
Heather is the sister to Peter Broderick, and like Peter did two years ago, Heather will be moving to Europe to join the Efterklang live band starting early next year. We have already played with her several times and we love her and we love her music. This song is from her debut album, From The Ground.
Pinku Noizu / Tropic Warfare Accident
This is a demo, a very, ver, very beautiful demo that I can’t stop listening to. Pinku Noizu is a new Danish band fronted by Andreas Pallisgaard, who is very sweet and very talented.
The Late Great Fitzcarraldos / Bolerobillie
I have a yet unrelased album with them and I would not mind recommending every single song here. It is very hard to choose which song to play, actually, but I think I will go for Bolerobillie. It is a great song: the vibe and the build is so fulfilling. Tobias sings incredible. I love this band. I hope someone will release their album soon.
Oh No Ono / The Tea Party
They just signed to The Leaf Label (Efterklang’s old home) and they are our friends from Denmark. I hope these guys will be super big international stars one day. Maybe they will change peoples perspective on pop music sometime in the future. This song is a classic Oh No Ono song: great energy, great melodies, interesting production and lots of unexpected turns all in one song just 3:47 minutes long!
El Perro del Mar / I Gotta Get Smart
I downloaded her album by mistake on eMusic. What a great album. I love the production of it, as well. Very Swedish, I would say.
Erik Enocksson – Skinnskatteberg
More Swedish music. This guy is a genius. This is from an album called With Its Dark Tail Curled ‘Round The Garage.
His soundtrack for Farvel Falkenberg is also very nice.
Frederik Teige / Elevate
Frederik plays guitar in the Efterklang live band and he has recently finished a solo album that I highly recommend. It is not released yet, though. So if you run a record label and you read this, then why not give him a deal? The brass on this song is played by Niklas from Slaraffenland and Thomas from Efterklang.
Solhorn / Pigen med den Store Hånd
Solhorn is Michael Mørkholt from Copenhagen. For many years, he was releasing music under the name Jab Mica Och El and I highly recommend their releases as well. Solhorn just self-released his first album and it is called Himmelbjerg, which means Sky Mountain in English. Pigen med den Store Hånd is Danish for The Girl With The Big Hand.
In the Country / Viggo
Allthough I don’t really listen to jazz, I keep returning to this album. I’ve had it for years and really like it. In The Country is a trio and they have put out a few albums on beloved Norwegian label Rune Grammofon.
The Informations / Strange Habbits
Another glimpse into the Danish underground. This track has made people go crazy in Copenhagen the last few years. We are all holding our breaths waiting for a full album. I hear it will be out soon on Danish label and good friends Speed Of Sound.
