Called ‘the most ear-shatteringly loud garage/shoegaze band you’ll ever hear’ by the Washington Post, A Place To Bury Strangers were named by NME as one of the Ten Best Bands of SXSW 2008. Their debut release earned them a Best New Music distinction and they have toured with the likes of Nine Inch Nails, MGMT, and Holy F**k.
All The Saints / Farmacia All The Saints is one of those bands that just writes some of the most bad-ass parts on the planet and this is one of those songs where the drums are beating like a machine gun as waves of noise build up, only to drag you down. You end up feeling uncomfortable and wanting to kick someone’s ass.
Depending on your background, the term “power trio” may bring to mind the ’60s sonic depth-charges launched by the Jimi Hendrix Experience and Cream; the twisty prog-rock styles of mid-70s King Crimson and Rush. Or the post-grunge bash of Seether and Wolfmother. In the case of Civil Twilight, as evidenced on their self-titled debut album, the term means all of that. And much more.
Grizzly Bear / Two Weeks I love this whole album. In fact, our whole band has been getting into it and really enjoying it. It’s a super creative and fun album that seems to transport one to a magical world of sounds and pictures, melodies, rhythms and harmonies that the Beach Boys would be proud of.
In Case of Fire are a progressive rock band that formed in Northern Ireland in 2005. Since then they have toured and played with bands such as Fightstar, Biffy Clyro, Enter Shikari, 30 Seconds to Mars and Queens of the Stone Age.
Jeff Buckley / Grace From the haunting guitar intro to the incredible high notes, this song is everything that was great about Jeff Buckley. One of the most talented artists of all time.
