After a three year hiatus from playing together in San Francisco’s Parchman Farm, bassist Carson Binks and guitarist Allyson Baker regrouped and formed Dirty Ghosts with the addition Aesop Rock on drum programming in 2009.

I heard this song playing in a store while I was on vacation and I went out and bought it the next day. I’ve probably listened to this song about 80,000 times since. The little guitar bit in the middle, that Afro beat style soloing, that’s what got me!

Fannius has been signed to two different major labels, released a platinum record, and had a song featured in the Tina Fey-Amy Poehler movie, Baby Mama, all before she was 20. Her blend of indie rock, hip hop, rap, and pop sounds like a mashup of MIA, Pink, and Robyn.

Beyonce is my everything. I could listen to this song over and over and over and over – and I have been. It’s the claps. I LOVE the claps.

Girl Talk has been known to underground audiences for several years, but it wasn’t until 2006 that Gillis crossed over and caught the attention of a larger audience. This is one of my favorite Beyonce tracks ever. It has so much energy, and the chorus gets dark in a great way. The clapping never stops. The video is a flawless execution of a performance style clip. It’s perfect.
